Four kinds of attack, four test standards
Security glass is rated by what it was tested against. The right level depends on what you are protecting and who you are protecting it from, so we start with the risk, not the thickest glass.
Opportunist break-ins
Laminated glass tested by dropping a 4.11 kg steel ball. Suits homes, back doors and most windows.
Laminated security glass BS EN 356 · P6B–P8BSmash-and-grab
Multi-layer glass tested with a hammer and axe until a 400 mm hole is made. For shopfronts, jewellers and stockrooms.
Anti-bandit glass BS EN 1063 · BR1–BR7Firearms
Thick laminates tested against specific weapons. For cash counters, kiosks and high-risk receptions, chosen from a risk assessment.
Bullet-resistant glass BS EN 13541 · ER1–ER4Blast
Glazing designed with its frame to stay in place under explosive pressure. Specified from a threat assessment.
Blast-resistant glazingProtection you can see through
Most break-ins through glass rely on a quick smash and a clear hole. Laminated and anti-bandit glass take that away without bars, shutters or a change to how the building looks.
Stays in the frame when broken
Laminated glass cracks but holds together, so a broken pane still keeps people out and the weather off until it is replaced.
Rated glass, with the evidence
We quote glass tested by its manufacturer to the class you need, from P1A to P8B and BR ratings, and send the test evidence with your quote.
Glass and frame checked together
The surveyor looks at the frame, beads and fixings as well as the glass, because a strong pane in a weak frame is only as good as the frame.
Straight about what glass can do
We explain where film, laminated glass or bollards make sense, and never overstate what any glass can stop.
Every kind of security and safety glazing

from £174 inc VATLearn moreReplacing damaged, failed or unsafe glass in offices, shops and public buildings, including large panes needing lifting equipment.
from £395 + VATLearn moreTwo panes, one tough interlayer
Laminated glass bonds sheets of glass to a plastic interlayer. When it is hit, the glass cracks but the fragments stay stuck to the interlayer, so the pane stays in the frame. Thicker and more layered makeups take longer to get through. Security film applied to existing glass works on the same principle at a lower level.

Common questions
How much does security glass cost?
Laminated security glass usually costs £145 to £495 plus VAT (£174 to £594 inc VAT) per pane supplied and fitted, security double-glazed units £145 to £495 plus VAT (£174 to £594 inc VAT) per unit, and anti-bandit glass £450 to £2,995 plus VAT (£540 to £3,594 inc VAT) per pane. Security film costs £45 to £110 plus VAT (£54 to £132 inc VAT) per m². Your fixed price is confirmed in writing after a free survey.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new installations. Broken glass replacement and bead security visits are charged, and the price is confirmed before we attend. For broken glass, the visit charge is deducted from the price if you go ahead with the replacement.
Do your prices include VAT?
Prices for homes are shown including VAT, with the ex-VAT figure alongside; prices for business services are shown excluding VAT. The prices page shows both.
Can I get a price without a visit?
Yes. Use the guide price tool or send pane sizes and photos for a guide figure. The fixed price follows a survey.
How do I pay?
Payment terms are set out in your written quote before any work starts.
What is the difference between laminated and toughened glass?
Toughened glass is stronger but breaks into small pieces and leaves an open hole. Laminated glass cracks but stays in the frame, which is why it is the choice for security.
Which security rating do I need?
Homes usually need P1A to P2A under BS EN 356, shops P4A to P6B, and high-value premises P6B to P8B. Your insurer may set the level.
Is security film as good as laminated glass?
Film helps hold broken glass together and slows an attack, but laminated glass gives a higher, tested level of resistance and lasts as long as the window.
