Laminated glass retrofit in Bradford: what will it cost?
Our guide range for laminated glass retrofit in Bradford is £174 to £534 including VAT (£145 to £445 plus VAT) per pane, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.
A laminated glass retrofit replaces the glass in frames you already have with laminated glass or laminated sealed units, so an existing building gets much more resistance to break-in without the cost and disruption of new windows. It suits homes, offices and shops where the frames are still sound.

- Security tape and bead clips where needed
- Pane-by-pane record of glass fitted

West Yorkshire mixes the offices and Victorian arcades of Leeds with stone terraces and mill buildings in Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield, and Wakefield's town-centre retail.
Typical settings for laminated glass retrofit:
- Shops wanting more security without a new frontage
- Buildings where frames are too new to replace

- Blocks of flats with communal glazing
Getting the right glass for your building
Which elevations first
Ground-floor, rear and hidden glass carries most of the risk, so it usually comes first.
Phasing and budget
Retrofits phase easily. You can upgrade the riskiest panes now and the rest later.
What the rules say in England
Security rules for new homes
Approved Document Q has applied to new homes in England since 1 October 2015. Easily accessible doors and windows, meaning any part within 2 m vertically of the ground or another accessible surface, should meet PAS 24 or an equivalent, and glazing in doors and in windows within 400 mm of a door should be laminated to at least BS EN 356 P1A. It does not apply when you change the glass in an existing home, although it is a sensible benchmark.
Safety glass in critical locations
In England, section 5 of Approved Document K treats glazing in doors and in side panels within 300 mm of a door edge, from floor level up to 1,500 mm, and any other glazing below 800 mm, as a critical location. Glass there should break safely, be robust, or be guarded. Laminated or toughened glass meeting BS EN 12600 class 3 is the usual answer, rising to class 2 for door and side-panel panes wider than 900 mm.

Laminated glass retrofit in Bradford: questions
Which areas near Bradford do you cover?
We can arrange work in Bradford and in nearby Shipley (3 miles), Pudsey (4 miles) and Cleckheaton (5 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
Will the windows look different?
No. The frames stay and the new glass is clear, unless you choose an obscure or tinted finish.
Is retrofitting cheaper than new windows?
Usually, yes, because frames, plastering and making good are not involved. It only makes sense where the frames are sound.
Can you do the work in phases?
Yes. Many customers start with the most exposed windows and do the rest later.
