How much does laminated glass retrofit cost in West Yorkshire?
Our guide range for laminated glass retrofit in West Yorkshire is £174 to £534 including VAT (£145 to £445 plus VAT) per pane, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.
A laminated glass retrofit replaces the glass in frames you already have with laminated glass or laminated sealed units, so an existing building gets much more resistance to break-in without the cost and disruption of new windows. It suits homes, offices and shops where the frames are still sound.

Things to decide before you order
Frame condition
If a frame is too shallow, damaged or weak, we will say so rather than fit heavier glass into it.
Phasing and budget
Retrofits phase easily. You can upgrade the riskiest panes now and the rest later.
Rules that apply in England
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Replacing only the glass or sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair in England rather than notifiable building work. Replacing a whole window or door is notifiable and is normally certified through a competent person scheme or approved by building control. Either way, new glass in a critical location should still be safety glass.
Safety glass in critical locations
In England, section 5 of Approved Document K treats glazing in doors and in side panels within 300 mm of a door edge, from floor level up to 1,500 mm, and any other glazing below 800 mm, as a critical location. Glass there should break safely, be robust, or be guarded. Laminated or toughened glass meeting BS EN 12600 class 3 is the usual answer, rising to class 2 for door and side-panel panes wider than 900 mm.

Laminated glass retrofit in West Yorkshire: questions
Which towns in West Yorkshire do you cover?
We can arrange work anywhere in West Yorkshire, including Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and Halifax, and in other towns across the area.
Can you do the work in phases?
Yes. Many customers start with the most exposed windows and do the rest later.
Do I need permission to change the glass?
Changing glass in existing frames is generally treated as a repair. Listed buildings may still need listed building consent, so check with the council.
Will laminated glass fit my frames?
Most modern frames can take a laminated unit of the same overall thickness. We check the rebate depth and beads at the survey.
