Patio and bifold door security glass in Abergavenny: what will it cost?
Budget £354 to £1,074 including VAT (£295 to £895 plus VAT) per pane for patio and bifold door security glass in Abergavenny, supplied and fitted. Larger panes, thicker makeups and difficult access cost more; the price is fixed in writing after the survey.
Patio and bifold door security glass means fitting large sealed units with a laminated pane into sliding, French or bifolding doors. These doors are usually the biggest glass at the back of the house and out of view, so making the glass hold when it is struck closes one of the easiest routes in.

- Low-E, argon and solar control glass options
- Units sized for sliding, French and bifold doors
- Laminated inner pane with toughened outer pane

Getting the right glass for your building
Laminated inner or both panes
A laminated inner pane is the usual security upgrade. On very exposed doors both panes can be laminated.
Door hardware
Glass is only part of the picture. Worn rollers, missing anti-lift blocks or old locks are often worth fixing at the same visit.
What the rules say in Wales
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Welsh Government guidance says building regulations have applied to replacement glazing since 1 April 2002, which covers replacing windows and doors. Swapping only the glass or a sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair. New glass in a critical location should still be safety glass, and the council's building control team can confirm anything unclear.
Security rules for new homes
Wales introduced its own Approved Document Q for new homes, in force from 1 November 2018, and it applies to newly erected dwellings only. It follows a similar approach to England's, with PAS 24 referenced for easily accessible doors and windows and laminated glass to BS EN 356 P1A in doors and nearby windows. It does not apply to changing the glass in an existing home.

Patio and bifold door security glass in Abergavenny: questions
Can you survey in Abergavenny and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Abergavenny, Pontypool and Ebbw Vale are booked around installer availability.
Can you replace just one pane of a bifold?
Yes. Each leaf takes its own unit, so we can upgrade one leaf or all of them.
Can sliding doors be lifted out?
Older sliding doors without anti-lift blocks can be. We check for this at the survey and can fit blocks at the same visit.
Will laminated glass make my bifolds harder to open?
Units are slightly heavier. We adjust hinges, rollers and carriages after fitting so the doors run smoothly.
