What is the price of patio and bifold door security glass in Hawarden?
As a guide, allow £354 to £1,074 including VAT (£295 to £895 plus VAT) per pane for patio and bifold door security glass in Hawarden, supplied and fitted. Size, glass makeup, access and frame condition move the price, which is confirmed in writing after the free survey.
Patio and bifold door security glass means fitting large sealed units with a laminated pane into sliding, French or bifolding doors. These doors are usually the biggest glass at the back of the house and out of view, so making the glass hold when it is struck closes one of the easiest routes in.

This glazing suits:

- Bifold doors in kitchen extensions
- French doors onto gardens
- Sliding patio doors at the back of a house
Questions we will ask at the survey
Integral blinds
Units with blinds inside the glass can be made with a laminated pane, but lead times are longer.
Solar control
South-facing doors can overheat. Adding solar control glass at the same time keeps rooms cooler.
Building regulations and safety in Wales
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Welsh Government guidance says building regulations have applied to replacement glazing since 1 April 2002, which covers replacing windows and doors. Swapping only the glass or a sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair. New glass in a critical location should still be safety glass, and the council's building control team can confirm anything unclear.
Planning permission
In Wales the local planning authority decides whether a new or altered shopfront needs planning permission. Replacing glass in an existing frame usually does not, because the outside of the building looks much the same. Bollards or barriers on the pavement need consent from the highway authority, normally the council.

Patio and bifold door security glass in Hawarden: questions
Do you cover Deeside as well as Hawarden?
Yes. As well as Hawarden, we can arrange surveys in nearby Deeside, Buckley and Mold. Dates depend on installer availability.
Is patio door glass already safety glass?
It should be, because doors are critical locations. Most is toughened, which is safe but not secure. Adding a laminated pane makes it both.
Do you work on aluminium bifolds?
Yes, on aluminium, uPVC and timber doors, provided the frame can take the new unit thickness.
Can you replace just one pane of a bifold?
Yes. Each leaf takes its own unit, so we can upgrade one leaf or all of them.
