Misted unit replacement with laminated glass in Pembroke Dock: what will it cost?
Our guide range for misted unit replacement with laminated glass in Pembroke Dock is £150 to £474 including VAT (£125 to £395 plus VAT) per unit, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.
Misted unit replacement means swapping a double-glazed unit whose seal has failed, so moisture has got between the panes, for a new sealed unit. Doing it with a laminated pane turns a routine repair into a security upgrade for little extra cost.
What you can specify
- Obscure and decorative glass matched where possible
- Old units removed and disposed of
- Laminated inner pane for security

What the rules say in Wales
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Welsh Government guidance says building regulations have applied to replacement glazing since 1 April 2002, which covers replacing windows and doors. Swapping only the glass or a sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair. New glass in a critical location should still be safety glass, and the council's building control team can confirm anything unclear.
Security rules for new homes
Wales introduced its own Approved Document Q for new homes, in force from 1 November 2018, and it applies to newly erected dwellings only. It follows a similar approach to England's, with PAS 24 referenced for easily accessible doors and windows and laminated glass to BS EN 356 P1A in doors and nearby windows. It does not apply to changing the glass in an existing home.

Misted unit replacement with laminated glass in Pembroke Dock: questions
Do you cover Haverfordwest as well as Pembroke Dock?
Yes. As well as Pembroke Dock, we can arrange work in nearby Haverfordwest. Dates depend on installer availability.
Do I need a new window frame?
No, if the frame is sound. We replace only the sealed unit.
Can misted glass be repaired instead of replaced?
Some services drill and dry units, but the seal stays broken and insulation is not restored. A new unit is the reliable fix.
Why is there condensation between my window panes?
The seal around the unit has failed, letting damp air into the gap. The only lasting fix is a new unit.
