What is the price of laminated roof and conservatory glass in Aberystwyth?
Our guide range for laminated roof and conservatory glass is £234 to £774 including VAT (£195 to £645 plus VAT) per pane, supplied and fitted. Work in Aberystwyth is arranged individually, so travel and glass delivery are confirmed in your written price before anything is booked.
Laminated roof glass is overhead glazing with a laminated inner pane, so if the glass is broken by impact, a falling branch or an intruder, the pieces stay bonded in place rather than dropping into the room below. It is the usual specification for roof lanterns, flat rooflights and glass conservatory roofs.
Glass and fitting options
- Safe access with towers or scaffolding where needed
- Matching existing tints where possible
- Units for flat rooflights and walk-on surrounds where specified
- Shaped units for hipped lanterns
- Replacement of misted or broken roof units
- New seals, gaskets and caps refitted to keep the roof watertight

Dyfed covers the town-centre shops of Carmarthen and Llanelli, the university town of Aberystwyth, and Pembrokeshire harbour towns such as Tenby, with exposed properties along the west coast.
This glazing suits:
- Roof lanterns over kitchens and extensions
- Flat rooflights over stairs and landings
- Glass conservatory roofs
- Single-storey extensions reached from walls or fences
Questions we will ask at the survey
Self-cleaning outer pane
A self-cleaning coating cuts how often the roof needs washing, which helps where access is awkward.
Solar control
Roof glass gets more sun than any other pane. Solar control or tinted outer panes reduce heat and glare.
Building regulations and safety in Wales
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Welsh Government guidance says building regulations have applied to replacement glazing since 1 April 2002, which covers replacing windows and doors. Swapping only the glass or a sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair. New glass in a critical location should still be safety glass, and the council's building control team can confirm anything unclear.
Planning permission
In Wales the local planning authority decides whether a new or altered shopfront needs planning permission. Replacing glass in an existing frame usually does not, because the outside of the building looks much the same. Bollards or barriers on the pavement need consent from the highway authority, normally the council.

Laminated roof and conservatory glass in Aberystwyth: questions
Can you work in Aberystwyth?
Work in Aberystwyth is arranged individually because of travel. Send your postcode and details and we will confirm what is possible.
Will laminated roof glass stop someone getting in?
It makes breaking through the roof slow and noisy, so the roof is a much harder way into a single-storey extension.
Can you change my conservatory roof from plastic to glass?
Replacing polycarbonate with glass adds a lot of weight and is a structural change, so it is not part of this service. We can advise once a structural plan is in place.
Can roof glass reduce heat in summer?
Yes. Solar control glass on the outer pane reflects much of the heat, and tints reduce glare.
