What is the price of glazing bead security upgrades in Prestatyn?
Allow £54 to £114 including VAT (£45 to £95 plus VAT) per window for glazing bead security upgrades in Prestatyn, with a minimum charge of £174 including VAT (£145 plus VAT) per visit. The price is confirmed before we attend.
A glazing bead security upgrade makes the glass much harder to remove from the outside of a window or door. On frames with external beads, a burglar can sometimes prise off the beads and lift the whole unit out quietly, and bonding the glass with security tape or fitting bead clips makes that route much harder.
What is included
- Concealed fixings for aluminium beads
- No change to how the window looks
- Beads replaced where cracked or brittle
- Checks for missing or loose beads and packers
- Suitable for windows and glazed doors

Clwyd takes in Wrexham's town centre and industrial estates, Deeside's business parks, Victorian seaside towns such as Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, and stone market towns like Ruthin and Denbigh.
This work suits:
- Glazed doors with external beads
- Aluminium windows and doors with external beads
- Older uPVC windows with beads on the outside
- Ground-floor and back windows
Before the visit
Glass at the same time
If units are misted or due for replacement, it is cheaper to fit laminated units and tape in one visit.
Which windows
Ground-floor and hidden windows come first; upstairs windows that cannot be reached are a lower priority.
Building regulations and safety in Wales
Security rules for new homes
Wales introduced its own Approved Document Q for new homes, in force from 1 November 2018, and it applies to newly erected dwellings only. It follows a similar approach to England's, with PAS 24 referenced for easily accessible doors and windows and laminated glass to BS EN 356 P1A in doors and nearby windows. It does not apply to changing the glass in an existing home.
Replacing glass in an existing frame
Welsh Government guidance says building regulations have applied to replacement glazing since 1 April 2002, which covers replacing windows and doors. Swapping only the glass or a sealed unit in an existing frame is generally treated as a repair. New glass in a critical location should still be safety glass, and the council's building control team can confirm anything unclear.
How it works

Glazing bead security upgrades in Prestatyn: questions
Which areas near Prestatyn do you cover?
We can arrange work in Prestatyn and in nearby Rhyl (4 miles), Flint (13 miles) and Colwyn Bay (14 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
Can you do this on aluminium windows?
Often, depending on the bead design. We check the profile when we confirm the price.
Can burglars really remove the glass from outside?
On some externally beaded windows, yes. The beads can be eased off and the unit lifted out quietly. Security tape and clips make that much harder.
Does the glass have to come out to fit security tape?
Yes. Each unit is removed, the tape is applied to the frame and the unit is refitted, so it is a good moment to swap in laminated glass if wanted.
