How much should I budget for broken glass replacement in Caerphilly?
Replacing a broken pane in Caerphilly usually costs £174 to £714 including VAT (£145 to £595 plus VAT), depending on size and glass type. The visit charge, from £174 including VAT (£145 plus VAT), is deducted from that price if the work goes ahead.
Broken glass replacement means clearing a cracked or smashed pane, measuring the opening and fitting new glass, which is often the right moment to upgrade to laminated security glass. It covers windows, doors, shopfronts and screens in homes and businesses.

- Written description of the work for insurance claims

Things to think about
Insurance
Check your policy before ordering. Many insurers will pay for like for like; an upgrade may be at your own cost.
Like for like or upgrade
Replacing broken toughened glass with laminated glass costs a little more and makes the same weakness much harder to exploit next time.
Consents and safety: Wales
Insurer requirements
Insurers in Wales, as elsewhere, can set conditions for premises, stock and cash, sometimes naming a BS EN 356 class for shop or counter glass. Get the policy wording in writing before ordering. The insurer decides whether the glass meets it, and the glass manufacturer's test evidence comes with our quote.
Safety glass in critical locations
In Wales, safety glazing is covered by Approved Document N (glazing) under the Welsh Building Regulations rather than Approved Document K. Glass in doors up to 1,500 mm above the floor, in panes within 300 mm of a door up to 1,500 mm, and in other glazing below 800 mm should be safety glass or protected. Laminated and toughened glass are the usual choices.
How it works
- Describe the damage and send a photo
- Visit price confirmed
- Measure and make safe if needed
- Glass agreed, ordered and fitted
Broken glass replacement in Caerphilly: questions
Do you cover Risca as well as Caerphilly?
Yes. As well as Caerphilly, we can arrange visits in nearby Risca, Pontypridd and Cardiff. Dates depend on installer availability.
Can you give me paperwork for my insurer?
Yes. We provide a written description of the damage, the work and the glass fitted, which you can send with your claim.
How quickly can broken glass be replaced?
The new glass has to be made to measure, so lead times depend on the type and size. Temporary boarding can be arranged where an installer is available; we do not promise a fixed response time.
What happens to the broken glass?
We remove and dispose of it safely as part of the job.
